Problem with duplicate image file when exporting from iPhoto to usb flash

When I export photo images from iPhoto 6 to a Kingston 2GB Data Traveler USB 2.0 flash drive it only shows the files that were exported to the USB drive when I open the USB drive. I than upload these photos from the USB drive to my DVR hard drive (Disk Network 622) to make a slideshow on the TV. The hard drive is showing the files I exported, but is also showing a paired file extension with a similar title except that the letters are capitalized and when I attempt to obtain info about the latter file the DVR hard drive crashes. Also if I try to upload the "duplicate file extension" to the photo section the DVR hard drive freezes. When I check the flash drive on my computer again I am unable to see the "duplicate" of the original file extensions that appears on the DVR multimedia section. Disk Network tech assistance thought the problem was not with the Dish DVR. I also reformatted the USB drive and tried again, but the problem persisted.

I’m not sure when else you would expect to see the files.

As to your other problem: My guess is that the file structure of the Mac files is causing the problem for the DVR. Although deprecated now, older files on the Macs had a Data and a Resource fork. It’s this second fork that turns up as a “mystery duplicate” on filesystems that don’t understand them.

Try Export the pics from iPhoto to a Folder on the Desktop. Then use one of these to strip the Resource forks from the files in that Folder. Then move them across to the DVR. See if that helps.

TD- Thanks again. I downloaded GrimRipperCM 1.4.1. I than exported a photo from iPhoto to a folder on the desktop and dragged it to the USB flash Drive. When I uploaded it to the DVR harddrive it was now just one file(the photo) and not the additional underlined, Capitalized file that crashed the DVR harddrive. To show my total lack of knowledge on this do I have to click on the GrimRipper file in the application folder to make it "work" or does it do it automatically when I export a photo from iPhoto and does it remove the resource fork from other files that could cause any problems? Sorry for the total lack of knowledge on this.
