Volume Problem - Minimum volume too loud

My new 16GB Nano 4G seems to have a new problem, with the latest software update. When I put the volume on a song all the way down, it's still too loud. Any suggestions, other than pausing the song?

A couple of things to try...

Under Settings>Playback>Volume Limit, you could lower the limit to something more comfortable. Or, if you notice that some songs are okay, while others are too loud, you could go to Settings>Playback>Sound Check and select On, which will help normalize things so all your music is near the same volume level.

If this really is an oddball issue directly related to the update, you could try Restoring your iPod via the iTunes Summary tab. That will erase everything and reset all settings and then reload songs, etc. from your computer afterward.

Hope that helps a little...

I'm having the same problem. I've tried fiddling with the volume limit - which is great for preventing ear splitting accidents - but it has no effect on the minimum volume. I've also tried restoring but it keeps the software at 1.0.3 - so if it is a problem with the software... I never used the previous version to know - restoring doesn't help.

If there isn't a way to lower the volume, and considering the last iPod I had was one of the second generation classics that is entirely possible, this is a really bonehead move and I hope Apple fixes it promptly.

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
