error code 2330

as i try to update the latest version of itunes i get this message:

An error occurred while attempting to create the directory
C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\Apple\MobileDeviceSupport\SyncServices\Schemes\iCal. syncschema\Content\Resources\French.lproj

subsequently, i received a notice w error code 2330, the text said the probem is probably w the (dwnld?) package

the last several updates to itunes have had issues installing as well, for that reason i'm pretty wary about updating... i lost all my downloaded music the last time i tried to update

i noticed in the forum there are issues w windows vista and amd processors,
but my computer has neither... i opereate w windows xp and have a pentium M processor

i recently purchased an ipod and it is only compatible with itunes 8.0+(currently using 7.7.1) so i cannot use it until this update problem get solved

any suggestions?

The 2330 error can be due to a probelm with a file, Try running a disk check.

the diskchk seemed to so something...

but iTunes still won't install.
this time 'round it only tells me there was
an error (with no furhter detail)
and that the install was unsuccessful

any further suggestions?

Ok if the disk check fied some problems, try this removal and installer clean up procedure:

Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)

Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.

To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup

Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP

Vista
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.

When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.

Restart your PC.

Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)

Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.

If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.

restart your PC

Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.

If it does, install iTunes.

great! thanks for your help!

last i restarted my computer chkdsk cleared out a few other files....
i notice one of them was the above file that iTunes couldn't find/create...
i installed iTunes manually from a downldd file and it installed properly this time! fantastic!
