Superdrive won't burn DVD+R?

Hi,
I bought a pack of DVD+Rs by mistake, but figured that it wouldn't be a problem (assuming Superdrive supported all formats). Is this true? When I try to burn a disc through Finder, I get the dreaded "The disc could not be used because the disc drive is not supported. (Error code 0x80020025)".
My superdrive is Matshita DVD-R UJ-867 and I'm on a Macbook Pro (4,1) with Leopard 10.5.5
I've also tried burning with Toast, but no joy there, either.

Can anyone tell me if this is/should be possible?

Thanks for your help!

Open System Profile and then select *Disk Burning* on the left panel. On the right you should see the supported formats. Anyway, I find it strange because on my Macbook (which has a Matsushita DVD-R UJ-857, DVD+R are supported and I can burn DVD+R on my G5 too).

I have the same problem. When I try to burn DVD+R disk (in my case Verbatim, if this makes any difference) I receive the following error:

The drive reported an error:
Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03

It is clear that this super drive is able to burn DVD+R's, it is written in the System Profiler and I did burn DVD+R before.

So the question is, is this problem related to some update performed in the past 3 months, is it firmware issue (and if it is, is it possible to update it) and is there any special discs that I am supose to use?

I am using Leopard 10.5.6, with all updates, on MBP 15". The super drive is as follows (quote from the System Profiler):

MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-867:

Firmware Revision: HA13
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

Can anyone give some advise or trow an idea, or something? This is very annoying problem and it would be nice to solve it wothout having to replace the drive.

Thank you.
