MxBtDaemon in Library Startup area... from Maxtor One Touch 120 GB
I loaded the cd for the Maxtor One Touch and it presents me with the security questions about this file MxBtDaemon (fileDescription: Maxtor Button Watcher Daemon) and it gave me the choice of fix, ignore or disable. I chose disable and after researching this online I found tons of posts about it crashing a system. I then downloaded application zapper...and removed files to trash. Though when I tried to manually delete MxBtDaemon Files from Library Startup folder it asked for administrator password. I am afraid that my computer may crash or not startup. Can I delete this start up file?
Yes, daemons should only actually be functioning after a request is made to them. Also as this is not an Apple daemon, removing it should not prevent system start.
I am not gonna use the One Touch, but do you think I have compromised my computer and my files... risk of crashing and etc. I have my thesis for my graduate program on this computer...
Do you recommend a back up system such as Lacie OR Rocstor...for MAC.
Get a backup right away, I like my Rocstor, avoid any with a touch button on the front, LaCie used to be good, but not certain now, or here's some more options...
