WINACD problem

Hi,

I found the locked thread on getting WINACD to work on a Win machine, however the hints there didn't seem to match my situation.

I have installed 0.4.6 and in device manager I can see the USB human interface device with details USB\VID 05AC&PID921C\6&2E04FB50&0&2, which I believe is the correct one, it has the MS driver and no exclamation mark. The display USB cable was plugged in when installing, though I got a message, that I could plug the display in when I was ready at the end of the installation. In the hardware IDs USB\Vid 05ac&Pid_921c&Rev0115 is listed. I have tried unplugging and replugging the USB cord a few times.

I see the apple control screen but under virtual control panel I see "none present" The USB ports are working on the screen as I can run my Wacom tablet and monitor calibrator from the ports there.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot, perhaps I could manually install the right driver if I could access it?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

regards,

Chris Ross

Ok more progress to report, the issue is new HID for displays that don't bring up the virtual control panel.

To get it working you need to add your display's HID to list of displays to winacd.inf and acdmonitor.inf. Then install them to the USB hub and monitor respectively.

Then you need to modify the the file in /acdutil : ACDHidDev.h and add the HID for your display.

This is accessed here:

http://winacd.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/winacd/

Then you need to rebuild the .dll and exe files in Microsoft Visual Studio 2003. That don't know how to do, I had a friend build them for me. You need to check out all the files through CVS which can be accessed here:

http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=136693

Now go to task manager and stop any acd processes, then to c:/program files/winacd/i386. Copy the .dll and .exe files there to a new folder, delete them them and copy in your new files.

Reboot and you should have the virtual control panel. The brightness control works but unfortunately the disable brightness buttons do not.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that information, just one question, what operating system are you running? From your sig it says WinXP Pro, but is it the 64bit version? If not then I dont see why you are experiencing any problems installing winACD on a 32bit windows OS. The install is straight forward.

If however this is a fix to getting the brightness and power buttons to work on XP64, I shall be very interested to undergo this solution you have posted up.
