Question

Mute toggle switch not working on 3G iPhone

It used to work.

It doesn't now.

I've tried rebooting the phone, without success.

Could I (accidentally) have done something to disable it? Or is it just broken?

And if it is broken, what's the warranty on it?

It's covered under the warranty. Visit an Apple Store or call AppleCare at 1-800-MY-IPHONE.

Thanks for that information.

I was also trying to make sure I hadn't accidentally disabled it in the 'settings' area, though I couldn't see anyway to do that.

No, it cannot be 'disabled' in Settings. The vibrate function can be disabled, though. Also, Clock alarms and sound from some apps are not silenced by the Ring/Silent switch. But if incoming phone calls ring with the switch on silent, it's defective.

I know this response is probably too late, but I had the same issue where the mute/ringer toggle stopped working. I took it to an Apple store, they pulled the screen and reconnected the wires as it had come loose. What was your outcome?

My mute switch fell off a few weeks ago and Apple replaced the phone on the spot.
