can't import from Palm 4 to iCal

tried following steps to import data from Mac with Palm 4.2 to a new iMac with iCal. In Palm, go to file, export, datebook, vcal and save; then import vCal into iCal. Events are repeated over and over for every day. Can't figure out what the problem is.
