When doing certain functions for the first time after launch, my computer hangs. There are 3 I note consistently. All apps are the latest version as is my OS - 10.5.5, using a Mac Pro 2 x 3.0 GHz Quad-Core, 4GB RAM

1) Snapz Pro X (2.1.3b3) (screen capture app) - when I first launch it and try to do a screen shot, it takes 10 - 20 seconds before SP will respond. After this, it is instantaneous

2) Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1) - when first time launching Save For Web, saving a picture takes 30 seconds before PS will complete the save. PS saves subsequent files immediately

3) Now Up To Date (5.3.2) - When accessing it's Quick Contact function located in the OS menu bar by the Apple clock, I get the beach ball for 10+ seconds. After this, all subsequent accessing is instantaneous.

Any thoughts? Each company doesn't know why and because I'm experiencing a hang across different apps and each is similar in how it happens and resolves, I'm wondering if it is some kind of memory management issue on the OS or hardware side.

Thanks,
Steven

Hi Björn

No servers and interestingly with console launched 2 of the 3 didn't stall for the first time. I'll try again with it not open. But Snapz Pro did stall, but Console doesn't report any activity. Snapz Pro launches at start up and takes over for the internal OSX screen capture, maybe that's why?

Snapz Pro tech support is aware of the problem, but said there are not enough complaints to justify an investigation and fix at this time. Oh well. Not the end of the world.

I'll report back the next time I get a reportable stall.

Thanks.
Steven
