It's possibly a hardware fault - looking at other threads, external, non-standard or broken drives can cause this. Have you tried VLC instead? I reckon that's your best bet. If it doesn't work in VLC either then it's a deeper problem.

Thanks Joe Co for your reply on my concerns. Just to give more information what happened before i got that message. We watched a movie using my dvd player and i believe that the disc is still inside, after watching I forgot to eject the disc and left my computer unattended for awhile when suddenly, a power failure occurred. I started my computer again and the disc icon on my desktop is gone, I opened my dvd player there goes the error. My slot is locked...Is there anyway I can have my dvd player back. Thanks
Strange that it won't eject. Have you tried restarting, and holding the eject key during the chime, until the spinning gear appears. (I've also read that the holding the left - or only - mouse button does the same thing - try that if the eject key doesn't work).
