itunes/iphone app update problems

since the last couple of days i have the following problem:

the updateof some apps (shazam) was first visible on both my iphones, but the next day it disappeared. the same with itunes: it was not visible. today the sme with touchgrind: visible on my iphones but not visible in itunes.

is this problem caused bu apple's ?

YES! Fixed my issue too!

For those with hundreds of apps, finding out which you purchased in the other store is awkward.

Tip:

Select the first one at the top in iTunes. Right click and choose Get Info. See where it says your account email address? Just watch that as you keep clicking the 'next' button, and when it changes, close the window and delete that app (right click, move to trash) Once I'd done this for my 2 US store bought apps, all my AU bought ones now update again.

Howdy - I just wanted to add my observations.

I only have US-Store apps; however, I was having the same issue. I tested the observations given in this thread and have found that if there is even a single app present that was downloaded by a different store user account then no apps will be updated. (This is a change; previously it would update my apps and give me an error message for my wife's apps.)

My wife and I share a single computer and user account, but have separate iTunes accounts. When I removed her apps from the apps page and restarted iTunes then the update worked correctly.

Since she only has three I can update hers on her iTouch separately. But, if there are many I guess that separate mac user accounts are in order.

Thanks for the fix - this was getting frustrating!

I was able to fix the problem.

I have two iTunes accounts: for Ireland and the US. Both are legit and I have credit cards and billing addresses in the two countries.

Recently, I added a third account on the French iTunes store via a well-known technique that allows you to have an account for free apps without a billing address or credit card in the country in question. I used it to download one free app.

I now realise that it was since I downloaded that app that the updates function has not been working properly. I removed that app from iTunes and . . . voilà. All of the updates for the other two iTunes stores are now showing up.

Same with me, two legitimate accounts, one from the U.S and one from Canada. When I delete the apps from the Canadian app store it works fine. This must be a recent change from Apple because I've had two accounts since I got the phone and it wasn't a problem before.

Has anyone found a way around this? I wonder if you install an older version of iTunes it would work.
