10.5.6 breaks Feb 2008 MBP Pinch/Expand Zoom in Finder

After updating to 10.5.6 combo my MBP (Feb 2008) can no longer resize finder windows using the trackpad pinch and expand multitouch. I use this feature a great deal! Ugh!

Macbook Pro (Feb 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Did you notice the new Trackpad settings feature in System Preferences?

Yes, but there is not option there to fix this problem. All the features are turned on, but pinch/zoom does not work anymore in the finder like it did on 10.5.5 on Feb 2008 MBPs. I am not sure about the current MBPs, but it is not broken on my MBP.

probably worth booting up from an external drive or your OS DVD and running Disk Utility to "repair disk" and "repair permissions", Drew, and then re-running the Combo updater.

Yeah I've been affected by that as well!!! I'm going to try that fix to see if that'll solve the problem.. here's hoping...

A huge huge thanks to Mudcrutch99! This did it! Apple has turned off finder pinch/zoom function with 10.5.6 by default and added an option to turn it back up in Finder/Pref/Advanced.

They should have documented this change and told us how to turn it back on! Mudcrutch99, I have no idea how you knew that there was a new finder prefs for this option, but thank you big time!

I just checked on mine, and it hasn't appeared!

Oh well.. I'll wait till apple gets a fix out for it..

Which particular MBP model do you have, mechcon? Wewere you using any third party trackpad enhancement software?

It's the early 2008 MacBook Pro, last of the old shape, and first with the multitouch trackpad. 2.4GHz

And I have one of the Multitouch Feb 2008 MBP's too.. Problem was, was that my trackpad/keyboard was replaced at the store a week or two ago, due to repairs, BUT I don't know if the top case or whatever part was replaced was for a Feb 2008 MacBook Pro, OR from the one before that.

So is there any way I can tell if the part replaced is the right one for the MBP? I guess what I'm saying is, that I don't know if it's 10.5.6 that broke the multitouch options, or that the store replaced the part with one for an older MacBook Pro.

And I assume there's an easier way to check without having to reinstall 10.5 and just install 10.5.5 before going to 10.5.6 ?
