problem inserting objects in Powerpoint for Mac

Hi,

I'm now to Mac. I have a MacBook (just being updated to more recent software), on which I have installed Office for Mac.

I'm currently having problems in including objectss in a presentation with Powerpoint (didn't have this problem on WinXP, and I'm still just learning the Mac environment...).

When I try to include an equation by doing:

Insert->Object

my Powerpoint crashes...

If I copy and paste another equation from a different document and edit that, I don't have any problem, so I'm a bit puzzled at what this might be. Maybe some 'update' problem ? Have anyone had the same problem at any time ?

Which version of Office?
Have you installed all the latest updates for (that version of) Office?
Does it crash as soon as you click Object...
or
does it crash after you actually select the object you want to insert?
What type of object are you trying to add? (thinking incompatible file type)

Hi AJ,

it is Powerpoint 2008. I have updated it as soon as I installed it (last week) with all the SPs available.

The crash happens as soon as I click on 'Objects'. I wanted to add an equation using the equation editor, but I don't even get to the point to select which object I would like to add.

I tried to browse for this problem, but could not find anything useful.... Now I notice that I have problems also with Word in Office 2008. If I open a word file (whether it is something that originally had been made in Windows, or something brand new I create on the Mac), after a short while I have the message that Word has encountered an error and needs to close. This happens even if I simply open a file and try to save it !
It could well be that the version of Office 2008 that I installed has problems originally (I got it from my University). How can I un-install it (the equivalent of "Remove software" from the 'Control Panel' in Windows) ?

Office has its own uninstall program. I think it is buried a couple of folders deep in applications/office 2008. It should remove all remnants of all versions.
If it is not there, poke around on the installer CD.

There was a problem with people that had both the test drive versions (shipped on many machines) and the retail version. Have to remove the test drive version in order for the retail version to function correctly.
