mails not showing in mail

I setup an email account in mail. I cannot view any mails in inbox. I see the activity happening and it shows mails. I'm not able to view it on my inbox. I was able to view m mails in outlook in windows. I've recently shifted to mac. i'm also not able to get mails in entourage. I can get my mails on palm as well as ppc6800. In mail when I say get info for that account it shows me mails.

2.53GHx Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Try selecting your mailbox in the left-hand panel and going to "Mailbox > Rebuild".

I did it, but it doesn't help. I also deleted the account and created fresh. Not also using copy/paste.

I guess the problem was of the email provider Yahoo - in my case, who couldn't and didn't want to help me. I moved the account and I'm getting all my mails.

What happens if Mailbox/Rebuild is not selectable? It is selectable for other boxes. What this tells me is that there is additional sub folders within my Inbox as that's the only way Rebuild would not be available. None of my other computers have this sub folder.

I had a Inbox sub mailbox with my email address where my incoming mail had been appearing. I had deleted that box and now mail is not visible. I have mail, so the unread icon number shows up, but can't see them.

I did a "Find" on one I thought was there and the Find showed one of the incoming mail. The unread number dropped by one number since the Find mail was read.

I don't mind losing some mail but not all.

Is there any help for this?
