Copy and paste attributes

I might be stupid, but I cannot seem to find a way to copy and paste attributes in Keynote'08.. When I add a "shape" it always show up with black stroke and image fill. Every time I add a new shape, I manually have to set all the attributes and that is killing me softly..

Is there an equivalent to Photoshop’s “Eyedropper Tool” so that I can select the newly added shape and then “lift” the attributes of another shape?

If I understand your question correctly, then Yes, there is a very easy way to copy the attributes from one object (or text sample) to another:

In the Toolbar at the top of our Editing Window, there should be two icons: Copy Style and Paste Style. If you don't see them, then you need to go to the View Menu and select Customize Toolbar; here you can select and drag these (and any other tools you want to add) into your Toolbar.

Once you have these tools available, all you need to do is select any object, click the Copy tool to capture the style (attributes) and then when you select another object, click the Paste tool to apply them. This also works, as mentioned above, with text.

Good luck.
