HI-SPEED USB Host controllers

Purchased iPod mini yesterday. We have a PC with USB ports, however, when we connect the iPod we receive a pop-up window with the following message "the USB Mass Storage Device is a HI-SPEED device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port. There are no HI-SPEED USB Host controllers installed on this computer."
Sometimes iTunes recognizes there is an iPod attached and sometimes it doesn't. Any recommendation as to what we need to purchase or do? The PC Device Manager tab shows:
USB Controllers: Generic USB Hub; Inter(r)82801BA/BAM USB UNIVERSAL HOST CONTROLLER - 2442; Inter(r)82801BA/BAM USB UNIVERSAL HOST CONTROLLER -2444; USB ROOT HUB; USB ROOT HUB; Many thanks. Anxiously awaiting to use the iPod!

Dragica, Windows is telling you that you're attaching a high-speed device (the iPod) to a low-speed port (USB 1.1). From your Device Manager content, it is correct that your computer only has USB 1.1.

Some people have had success connecting their iPods to USB 1.1, even though the minimum requirements are USB 2.0. If you do get the iPod to be recognized, music transfers will be very slow.

The best solution would be to purchase a FireWire PCI and Apple FireWire cable, specifically the Adaptec FireConnect 4300, available at Best Buy or similar retailers. The card and cable cost around $60.

Hello!
I have a similar problem to Dragica's except my computer is USB 2.0 enable. Under Device Manager states "SiS PCi-to-USB Enhanced Controller".
When I connect the iPod mini I get the message"the USB Mass Storage Device is a HI-SPEED device and will function at reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port. Connect to an available USB 2.0 port (translated from German)
It says further: "Click to view a list of available ports."
Once I click a window shows the "SiS PCi-to-USB Enhanced Controller" with 6 free ports under it.
My USB 2.0 tv card connects correctly and appears in this list when I have it plugged into my USB port.
Very puzzled. Can't imagine how much faster life will be once the iPod mini works at USB 2.0!
