Recently I've noticed that after my iphone goes to sleep for a minute or less, the wifi turns off and its on cellular network, when I turn it back on, it takes about 10 seconds to regain wifi connection. Is this normal? I dont think i've noticed it before, I've always saw wifi on when i woke up phone even if the phone was on sleep for a while. I've also reset the network connections
This is normal and routine. Maintaining a WiFi link indefinitely while the phone is sleeping would impose a significant battery drain, and it can be reestablished as needed.
Thank you very much! I realized it did that because I was running edge and wifi uses more battery so it switches it off, when Im on 3g and turn my phone off, it uses wifi since 3g takes more battery.
I don't think it makes any difference whether you're on Edge or 3G since the phone has to maintain the cellular network connection all the time, and WiFi is always in addition (unless you're in Airplane mode with WiFi on). I run 3G all the time and WiFI cuts out when asleep.
