iTunes application missing from iphone

Hi Guys, Hope u can help? I have the iphone 3G and the itunes application is missing, if i recall it was not on there when i purchased it from T-mobile however a friend of mine recently updated his phone and got the application installed. If this is the case how do i get iTunes on the phone, I have all the latest updates installed?
