THe screen is very dim and very hard to read.

Can anyone please help me. My ipod touch works perfectly , but I cannot hardly see the screen as it is very dim and hard to see. I have the latest software installed on, and have tried all of the settings, but nothing fixes this problem. I thank anyone for any help that they can give me on this.

even after setting the brightness setting?

the ipod touch has an ambient light sensor, which will change your brightness setting. try turning it off by going to settings -> brightness -> autobrightness

Yes, I have already did that, and the screen is still very dark and hard to see.

is your battery charged?

if yes then you may have a hardware problem. is it possible to take it to an apple store?

Yes, there is an Apple Store close by, and that will be my next step. And yes, the battery is charged. Thank you for your replies, and if you think of something else please speak up.

have you tried a reset?

hold down the sleep/wake button and home button until the ipod restarts

Yes I did do a reset, and the problem still persists. I also did a complete software upgrade to the latest version, and to no avail.

where is the ambient light sensor located on the ipod touch and iphone. maybe if you have a case, it is blocking the light from the sensor. just an idea.
