Extend an existing wireless network (not an Airport Extreme)

I have an existing wireless-N network with the following router:

I also have an early 2008 Airport Express, can I use the express to extend my existing network, or will that only work when you have an Extreme?

Thanks!

Hello bdicer. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!

Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of Wireless Distribution System (WDS)...so it very unlikely that your router can be extended wirelessly with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX).

You would need another AX, AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), or a Time Capsule (TC) ... or a very few other non-AirPort models to extend the AX.
