Slow HOME button

Hello,

I have a brand new iPhone 3G and upgrated it already to 2.2! I sync with my Mac the Music and sync with my job notebook calendar and contacts.

After these syncs the use of the HOME button is very, very slow: no difference if I "start" the iPhone again or if I want to close any app in order to return to the home screen. Sometimes I have to push the HOME button 2 to 4 times until it works.

I did already a reset (hot and cold) and after the hot reset (before sync of the data mentioned above) the HOME button works fine.

Based on the fact that the number of data which I synced is not too much (5GB music), I am surprised.

Can someone help? Does someone has the same issue? It kills a little bit the great look&feel of this product, if you have to push the main button always 2, 3 or 4 times before it reacts.

Hi Matthias,

What do you mean by a hot and cold reset?
Do you have a protective case or film on the iPhone? If you do, try testing without it.

Push longer. Quick stabs are occasionally missed, (or you think you pushed it but you really never did). A slightly longer push works better than a stab. Maybe a half second push.

Also if you happen to push while the phone is busy (perhaps checking mail) it sometimes seems slower. Closing safari can be slow it its chewing on something at the time.

If the phone seem sluggish turn it off (red slider - no need to go silver apple) and back on again.

My standard test is pressing settings icon. If mentally count 1001 1002 1003, and I expect the screen to populate with the settings before 1003 is complete. If I ever get to 1006, I power off an on again, and problem solved.

I mean with hot reset: a complete return to the original settings, including deleting all data, etc.
Cold reset: only holding standby+home for 10 seconds, data is not lost

Thx for your hint. Short question: how do I close an application on the iPhone? Is the app (e.g. Safari) really closed when I push the home button or is it stillrunning in the background?

(you see, I am a NEW iPhone user)

I turned it back to maintenance and it returned within a few days with an SW update (I don't know what SW update, because I kept is always actual via iTunes.... therefore it could only be some deep OS staff).
After that: it worked fine!
