using an IMic for a headset

I got a IMic from Griffin, plugged the headphone part of my headset into the back of the Mac and plugged the microphone part into the IMic then plugged the IMic into my USB port on my IMac keyboard but the mic still didn't work. Do I need to configure something to make this set up work out?
