I recently had problems with my cable service and decided to replace the modem. After recieving the new modem I reset my Airport and accidentally deleted the Airport profile in Network Preferences. Now the Airport Utility can't find the Airport and the status indicator in the menu bar has the Airport turned off. I have tried to turn it back on in the network system preferences window with no luck. How do i fix this problem?
I have done that. The new one is automatically named AirPort 2, and that's as far as I can get. The Airport status reads "off" and when I try to turn it on nothing happens. I also clicked on "assist me" then on diagnostic and it scans for a wireless network but finds none. I am using that wireless network right now on my old PC.(boo hoo).
Try the following to see if it will help:
Move System Configuration Files (Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
o Go to /Library/Preferences
o Move the SystemConfiguration folder and com.apple.networkConfig.plist file to the desktop.
o Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder & .plist file back to it's original location.)
You are a superstar! Thank you. This fixed the problem. I just have one more question. Should I now place those two things back in their original location?
