Printing shuts down applications

Whenever I try to print from an application by clicking (for example) File > Print from the menu bar my application will quit. A message will pop up saying, the application ... has quit unexpectedly... If the application is apple specific it will say that the "hp aio_print2pde" plug in may have caused the problem. This started happening after I installed an HP package in order to be able to scan to my computer. The same package has been installed on the families iMac but the problem doesn't happen there. If I click on the direct/easy print (for example the button on the toolbar in word) the printing works fine. I have looked through most of the packaged contents in the apps in the HP folder but have not been able to find the hp aio_print2pde plug in. It will not show up in a search of the computer.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, the problems I'm having perhaps could be related. I'm using a printer HP Laserjet P1005 with latest HP specific driver version 1.0.6 on my MacBook Pro with sys 10.5.6. Whenever i try to print to it from Filemaker Pro 8.5, the program quits/crashes. This is NOT happening when printing on other printers I have nor when printing from other applications. It happens a few seconds after the PRINT window appears. I have already removed and reinstalled FMP a couple of times, but nothing, and it works perfectly with other printers. I tried to delete the HP P1005 printer from the printer list in printer&fax preferences and it seems to be removed BUT after a reboot it appears back in the list. I tried with "reset all printing sys" but it deleted all other printers but NOT the P1005.
Any suggestion ? any known workaround ? How can I manually erase that printer/driver ? Thanks

Hi guys and have an happy new year. Well, I followed hints by John and removed all the following files from: HD > library >printer > HP >:
from folder AIO: hp aio_print2pde.plugin + hp aio_print2pm.plugin
from folder PDEs: hpPostScriptPDE.plugin
from folder laserjet: hprlPDE.plugin + hprlPM.plugin
Relaunched FMP and rebooted, tried to print but nothing changed, as before, just after 5 sec from "PRINT" window appears, the application crashes.
Some like 15 years in Apple world and I can not find a workaround, I've got to think about this!
Well, hope someone has a bright idea, thank for your attention, see you later. Bye.

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a HP LaserJet P1505 printer and it was working fine with my Mac notebook until yesterday. Every time I try to print a document or page from any application (Firefox, Safari, Word, Excel and etc.) I receive this message: The program has quit unexpectedly. The problem may be caused by the HP1006PDE Plug-in. My computer seems to be crashing. Is it my Macbook or the printer that is causing this problem?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

It's the printer software that's causing the problem.

You can look in /<hard drive>/Library/Printers/hp/laserjet/ to see if you can find the HP1006PDE Plug-in, though I am not sure why the P1505 is using the PDE for the HP1006. It may also be in the following location: /<hard drive>/Library/Printers/hp/PDEs. If you find the HP1006PDE plugin, renaming it or deleting it should get you past the crash.

Hope this helps.
