Fonts - Changing Outline Thickness

When you have formatted a font to be an outline, is there a way to change the thickness of the lines? I have some shapes in a document whose lines are 6 pt instead of 1 pt, and would like the text to match. I've been trying to edit text/pictures of text in pixelmator, since there doesn't seem to be a way to change this in pages, but nothing looks smooth enough. Pretty frustrating. Thanks a lot for the help.

Pages won't do this and you do not want to do it in Pixelmator which is a "bitmap" program which converts the line drawn outlines of the fonts into little pixels.

Look for the various vector programs such as Intaglio, ZeusDraw etc which will convert the fonts into vector (drawing) outlines. You will not be able to change the characters anymore at this point as they will no longer be text.

Then save those conversions into .pdfs and bring it back into Pages where they are an object and can be stretched or reduced to size.
