I just got a new ipod touch. My home wifi network shows up on the ipod touch but the ip address and everything else is blank when i click on the > next to it. I have tried typing in the password and it says "Unable to Connect to Network". I have tried resetting the ipod and the network. I have even reset the router. The router is a LinkSys WRT54G. I don't know why it will recognize my network but nothing comes up for the ip address. HELP.
You don't need to enter that information - it downloads what it needs from the router and leaves what it doesn't blank. Unless you have any problems you shouldn't need to mess around with that stuff. Just enter the password and see if you can connect.
Check your router setup and see if it allows mixed mode connections. If it doesn't, then it isn't allowing 802.11g connections, which is what the iPod touch and iPhone use. That may be the culprit here.
When I type in my password it says "Unable to Connect to Network". How can I get it to connect? According to my router online, it says it allows Mixed Connections. How do I know if it is allowing 802.11 g?
When I remove the password protection, the wifi network works on my ipod Touch, but when I put the security password back on, it will not connect to the internet.
I think we have the same problem, in my settings it shows I have a Wifi network selected and the password is correct... yet I can't connect to anything involving the internet.
I have v2.2, some kinda linksys WMP54G (I think, I'm not that great with tech stuff)
I've searched all through the ipod help fourms and a lot of people have the same problem with no solution.
Finally found a solution. As the Ipod Touch does not allow an encryption key, the security needs to be changed to have password only security. For D-Link users, contact tech support by phone. The wait is worth it. And they will solve your problem by changing your security set up from WEP to WPA and establishing a new network through their IP install address. In the meantime, Apple should issue a security patch allowing key encryption wiithin the Ipod Touch environment. Oh and when you do finally activate your wifi network, Safari will probably not connect. Temporarily disable your wifi connection and then Safari will work.
