Adobe Flash and IPod Touch

I just got an IPod Touch and get a failed download when trying to get the Adobe Flash player to download. It is needed to listen to some radio stations on line.

Same thing happened to me. Called tech support and the guy on the other end said I could download it from my iPod touch or my iMac. Not only did he not know what he was talking about (some tech support!), but then I was disconnected! That is why I don't buy Apple Care anymore.

I love Apple products, but I hate that they tout their stuff as these great useful things then fail to inform us that certain applications will never work, like Flash, and that's a biggie, because without that you can't watch much of the content from the internet, and that's supposed to be one of the functions of the Touch!

It's COMMON knowledge that Flash is not supported in the Apple iPod touch or iPhone.

Flash is an Adobe product - not Apple. Apple can't just magically make a product by another company.

It doesn't say anywhere in the iPod touch specifications that it will support Flash. However, it does say everything that it does support.

Flash is not the internet. Flash is just one of many third-party proprietary plugins which some sites use. It is not a standard part of the internet, nor part of any Internet standards which the iPod touch supports.

There are plenty of standards-based ways to view video and audio on the internet. If individual web-sites choose to use proprietary technologies, then complain to them, not Apple.

And next time, do some research before parting with your cash!

It apparently wasn't "common" knowledge to the OP that Flash doesn't function on the Touch. Adobe is TRYING to get a version of Flash that Apple will allow on the Touch. Time will tell if they manage that feat. Flash, cut & paste, and multitasking, are 3 glaring omissions from the Touch.

and yes, I agree one needs to do research prior to purchase...especially with Apple products. There always seems to be "gotchas".

I purchased my iTouch yesterday purposely so I could view the free episodes from abc, cbs, hulu, etc. My research was the fact that 2 girls in my office both have the iTouch and both can view the free show episodes. One girl has the older version the other I don't know cause she no longer works there. So what are they using to view videos? I don't think the one girl had a problem viewing. So why can't I view? I don't get this whole Adobe thing. What else would make one view videos? Viewing videos is part of the internet and if one can't do that then I don't need the iTouch. I have an 80GB iPod which I love. I wanted internet access for viewing TV shows episodes. So mine is going back.
