Ive tried everything! plz help!

I just got a new ipod (the last 1 had something wrong w/it and had to be replaced) and its not working. My computer doesnt recognize it AT ALL. not even when u double click that "Safely Remove Hardware" button by on the toolbar. restoring it isnt working because it doesnt recognize it either. when i plug my ipod in it makes the usual noise, but it does it twice really fast (if that matters any) Ive tried the troubleshooting page for "My Computer Doesnt Recognize my ipod", and my ipods FULLY charged. I am so close to taking my ipod nd smashing it into the ground. can ANYONE help!!??
