multiple photos printing

New iPhoto version seems to have lost ability to print several photos to one full sheet. Buried dropdown for multiple photos is greyed out.How to put either multiple copies of single or single copies of multiple pix on single sheet?

Welcome to the Apple users help forums

to print multiple photos select the photos and click print - select the printer, paper, and print size (must be small enough to fit multiples on the paper you selected with some borders) and click customize - click on the settings icon (the little gear looking thingy) and in the pull down menu select print multiple photos per page -- to put multiple copies on one page select print multiples of a photo per page) - the multiple photo layout should appear in the preview window and click print to print it

If this does not work quit iPhoto and trash the iPhoto preference file - "your username" ==> library ==> library ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist - and launch iPhoto - it will create a new default preference file - reset any user preferences you have changed and if you have changed the iPhoto library from the default location , repoint iPhoto to it

My uncle is having a similar problem. I wonder if his iphoto is corrupt. iPhoto 8 on his iMac running 10.4.11.
He follows the steps you outline. chooses two pix, in print dialogue he selects US letter size paper. Print size he chooses 4 x 6 and then in Settings, when he can, he selects multiple photos per page.
He prints. HE gets two pix on the page but a) they print sideways with heads facing left b) the two pix are much smaller than 4x 6
And sometimes, in Settings, the choices are grayed out. I tried for an hour today to help him print what he wants; Two 4x6 pix one under the other. Could not do it.

I came home, I am running 10.5.6 with iPhoto 8. I easily produced one sheet with two pix, each 4 x 6 , one pix on top , the other below, doing what LarryHN describes in his post.
So what gives with my Uncle's iPhoto? Are his preferences corrupt? Should he re install iPhoto?

appreciate your input

Has he tried trashing his iPhoto preferences?

No.
We did not know what the dickens we were experiencing. He was chewing out iPhoto 8 thinking that features had been eliminated. I told him I would research if others have ever experienced similar problem and how it was resolved.

I will help him do that ASAP. From reading forum entries deleting the preferences seems to be the first thing to do.

I totally can't figure this out. In iPhoto5, this was easy.

I have three photos. I want to print out a total of 10 2x3 prints, which fits easily on one 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I want to print out 5 copies of one of the photos, three copies of another, and two of the third. But "Print multiples of each photo" gives me one whole page of each photo! I can drag photos to replace slots and get the first page to look like I want, but I don't see any way to get rid of the other two unwanted pages...

That is not supported in iPhoto

You would have to duplicate Photo 1 four times, photo 2 twice and photo 3 once and then print all ten photos not as multiples of each image but as multiple photos per page

Unfortunately, selecting a different paper size and trashing the preferences did not eliminate the grayed out menu. What did work was :

1) select my photos in the main view
2) select file->print and then click on the customize button.
3) in that screen I had a tray up top with my two photos which I selected by holding down the shift key and clicking on them. (straight up multiple selection 101).
4) I selected file->print again. This time I got the old style print dialog and was able to change my layout setting to '2 per page'.

It did rotate my image to make best use of the paper.

hope this helps

As far as I remember it has never been a feature

But in any case how would you expect the users here to know what Apple does anything - you need to ask Apple about why they do things - we are all users just like you and can only ell you what we see in using the programs - and printing different size photos on one page is not a feature that I have seen or heard any one mention
