Random Low Battery Messages

Hello All,

I recently upgraded to iPhone 3G and I notice that I get that critically low battery warning popping up at least once a day. It tells me my battery is red and I need to plug it in like NOW. The thing is, I push the standby button twice (once to put it asleep, once to wake it back up) and it shows my battery as fine. It happens at random levels, sometimes almost all the way full, to sometimes around 20-30% full. The odd thing is that it will do it when I am not using the phone. I just see it turn itself on and pop up that screen as it sits on my desk. I know the battery has got charge because I will use it for a while after it happens and the battery indicator shows a normal charge. I just don't know why it pops up with that message. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Train448,

Are you using any 3rd-party accessories with the iPhone?

Try restoring the iPhone as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744

If you continue seeing the message after restoring the iPhone it may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.
