Remember Playback Position

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have a question in regards to the "Remember Playback Position" in iTunes and what (if any) effect it may have on the Touch. I normally leave this option unchecked in iTunes because when using the nano or the 5G video, the songs would automatically continue where I left off even after turning iPod off then back on. But with the iPod Touch, it wasn't continuing with the song where I left off with, but rather would return to the entire list of songs. I was experimenting with turning that option on in iTunes and re-syncing to the Touch to see if it made any difference and didn't notice anything different. In reading these forums, I learned that by putting the Touch into 'sleep' mode as opposed to powering it down completely will maintain the playback position. I tried that and it did maintain the playback position. So, I am assuming that the "Remember Playback Position" opion has to do with the playback of songs within iTunes and not the iPod. Is this correct?

In playing my Touch more today, I did notice that when I skip around to different songs and then come back to ones that I skipped, the iPod will continue those songs where they were left off at. It does appear that when "Remember Playback Position" option is enabled in iTunes, it does work as it's supposed to.

So I believe I have sorted these issues out. My main concern was how the iPod Touch was dealing with keeping track of what I was listening to at the time I power it off and back on and wanting it to continue with the same song/playlist.

"Remember Playback Position" means that it remembers where within a track/song/audiobook it was when stopped. NOT necessarily where within a playlist. This is generally useful for audiobooks and podcasts that are generally more lengthy than regular songs/tracks. It would be quite a pain to listen to an hour of an audiobook, go to listen to something else (or turn off the iPod) and then have to find that exact position again.

And yes, this has to be checked within iTunes as that's the setting that transfers to the iPod when synced.
