Software Update - resume from beginning after disconnect

I have an internet connection that disconnect a lot. My Software update will always start from the beginning and not resume from where it disconnected.
I am struggeling for over a week now to get a security updateto download.

I do not think to manually download the updates via iGetter or something similar should be a solution. How can this be fixed?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Intel

You either fix your internet connection or download the files from the Apple web site. There are many of us on these forums that check SU to see what updates are proposed and then download each one manually. However, you need to deal with your internet connection so posting in the appropriate forum area giving as much info about your setup and what happens would help.

Hi Ewan, and a warm welcome to the forums! 🙂

Actually iGetter or Speed Download may interfere with getting a download from Apple.

Generally when it starts over, it's because it found some error in comparing what you have and what Apple thinks you have already. Wireless is more prone to these errors than Ethernet.

As already mentioned... I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.
