EMU Proteus 2000

Hi. I'm wondering if it is possible to access/control an old Emu Proteus 2000 from GB.

Any help appreciated.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 16GB Ram

he didnt as you about LE7
you can use the proteus with GB as a midi controller to add data to software instrumemts
you can also record AUDIO , from the proteus itself using audio outs from it to the internal of the mac or an audio interfase

i would absolutely not recommened LE, It has a learning curve that might disappoint and distract you from making music. more time is spent on learning how to use it than enjoying making music which GB does muchbetter

Also, Logic Express 8 is FAR easier to use than previous versions. Certainly worth checking out. Almost everything you know about GarageBand is the same in Logic, but you get more options, like support for external MIDI instruments, tons of additional plug-ins. Its a lot of fun.

As for GarageBand. You can always install a free Audio Unit plug-in that gives you MIDI output. You'd use a software instrument track to send out MIDI, and an real instrument track to record the output of the Proteus.

Its fairly painless, but ironically, easier and more intuitive in Logic Express.

MidiO 1.2 is a universal binary (works on PPC and Intel Macs)

you have my undivided attention. Please tell me how FAR easier LE 8 is than previous versions. I looked at the interface and felt immediately vexed!

I am desperate to have a midi out function in GB, but Apple refuses to include it.
It would be a major leap for GB to have a midi out that certainly functioned to play external synths/modules. I think i tried this MidiO years ago and it stunk.
does it really work without a gliche?
this is remarkable if so. Have you heard of it or have you tried it. Please tell me your personal experiences with MidiO and GB with an external synth.
thanks so much
anxiosly awaiting your response
