I am traveling overseas. I want to use my iPhone for wifi net browsing. I have Roaming turned OFF to avoid extra costs - but I just received an incoming phone call from overseas. Am I going to to get hit for a bill? Why did a call come in when roaming is definitely turned off. Can I safely use WiFi for .me sync etc. without having to pay for local telecom charges?
If so, it is just that -Data roaming. It does not stop phone calls.
Yes you will get charged for airtime for any phone calls you are on.
Wi-Fi is separate from cell phone. If the wi-fi provider charges for the service then you will have to pay that provider. IF it is free wi-fi, then it is free.
You can put it on airplane mode, then turn wi-fi back on. This will prevent phone calls.
Hmmm - that sounds like a good way, just take the card out. Simple. Thanks.
But really,,, shouldn't there be a software switch do disable incoming calls when roaming outside your home country (provider). They have it for data, why not calls?
