stuck searching for cell signal

Hi all, My iphone 3G got stuck searching for the cell signal. I did a shutdown and restart and it started working again. This is the first time anything strange has happen in the 6 months I have owned the iphone. Is this a new bug with software version 2.2? Is there an ongoing list of bugs posted somewhere?

Asus / AMD, Windows Vista, home built

it's not a bug. As with any electronic computer device a reset is needed sometimes.

This has happened with me a few times since I've owned my iPhone (had it since August-September). You can fix it by either turning it off then on as you did, turning airplane mode on then off, or turning 3g off then on.

I have linux machines that have not been rebooted in over a year and a half.
