ichat video help

when i video chat with someone who is using AIM on a PC who DOESN'T have a camera, they can see and hear me just fine. but, when i try to chat with someone using AIM on a PC who has a camera, i can only see myself and they can only see themselves. is there something i can do to fix this on ichat or should we both be using something like skype? and is skype free to use if we are going to video chat online?

macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Might be easier to use Skype(its free)

wow the problem with iChat seems to be very big for now we get the advise to use skype !?!
I think I keep my mouth shut for a while against my pc minded friends...pfff

Ok that's the first time someone clearly says it is AIM that's causing the problem.
Well if that is clear, does anybody know what the problem is.
If it is the version of AIM, That can be a problem for pc users or am I wrong ?
For Mac users only, using the AIM server, there can't be a version problem can it ?

Every-time AIM update their software they brake it with iChat.

Thats why i say you might be better off using Skype or others to video with a PC.

This page has an Edit marked the 14/9/2208
with a link to the page AIM have now taken down but with a quote from the page about the "REAL-TIME " Codecs they are now using.

It does not even work to other AIM Clients like Tirllian or Older version of AIm like version 5.9
