Ringtones are not showing in iPhone ringtone folder.

I just bought a ringtone and it shows up in my iTunes ringtones folder, it even shows up in the iphone ringtones folder ON iTUNES, but I can't seem to get the ringtone to show up in the iPhone itself. Anyone know what's wrong? I live in California, so its not that foreign country problem I keep hearing about.

I had the same issue.

What I did was finally accept the "Register Your Iphone" prompt. It will register your iPhone and then you'll see the tabs for Ringtone and sync them.

It was sync'ing fine without me registering for other items like music, but not ringtones so I assumed that I didn't need to register my phone.

Anyway that's mine hopefully that'll help you.

I am having the same problem! I make my ringtones on Audiko.net and download them directly to my iTunes. They play in my iTunes and appear in my ringtones folder, but when I got to sync the ringtones to my iPhone, they don't show up! The error msg says something about not being able to locate the file, yet i can see it clear as day in iTunes, it plays, and when i close iTunes and opem it again, it is still there. I have used Audiko.net before to make ringtones, and have seen that error msg before, but it never caused an issue - my ringtones would always sync. I have it programmed to automatically sync to sync everything in my iTunes, the phone is not jailbroken, is registered and is up to date. Please help! I don't know what to do.

Don't ask me why it works, but it did for me. Try this:

1. Create a Smart Playlist in iTunes. Have it set to filter on "Kind" and set it to "is" and "Ringtone".
2. You should now have a playlist that lists all of your ringtones.
3. The next time you sync up your iPhone go to the Music tab and tick the checkbox for this new playlist.
4. Sync the Phone as usual
5. All of the Ringtones will now be in the custom Ringtone list in your Settings>Sound panel.

Something is obviously broken in iTunes and/or iPhone software. I have all of the latest versions of both installed.

hope it works for you too ! - dj

I was able to make a smart playlist, but once i made it, non of my ringtones show up.

This is driving me nuts. I bought a ringtone maker, and its most recent update made it compatible with iphone ringtones. I make the tone, and it shows up in my ringtone tab and even plays. But when I go to sync, it wont show up as an available ringtone to sync.

Some one please help!

I'm having the same problem getting the ringtones downloaded into ITunes, checked to be sync'd, applied, sync'd to Iphone, sync completed...... No new ringtones to be seen in settings>sounds>ringtones.

Last week, my friend recommended me to use iPhone Ringtone Maker which is great!

It can create my own M4R iPhone ringtones from my movies and songs, not only a ringtone maker, this program is but also an ringtone uploader to transfer the converted ringtone to iPhone directly without iTunes after conversion if you want.

It is really good.

I've figured it out. I think this must be what is plaguing most other users:

Song length of the ringtone must be around 35 seconds or shorter. I had a bunch of files all around a minute long and none of them showed up, I changed a couple to be shorter to 35 seconds, voila, there they all were.

So you might have to re-create the ringtone files, but that looks like it's the most common solution for the problem.

I was able to clear this up by removing the existing files and recreating them. I don't know if there was something wrong with the original files and they got corrupted or what but the existing files just wouldn't show up under Custom Ringtones on the iPhone even though they were listed in the Ringtones folder within iTunes and under iPhone-Ringtones when my iPhone was plugged into my machine.
