eMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 160gb,512mb,superdrive
When opening mail, spinning wheel shows up and I'll have to force quit. I have tried to re install mail but I get the spinning wheel when trying to open. I then have to force quit. I would like to restore mail on Emac. I have OS 10.4.11.

I am experiencing the same problem with mail hanging up when trying to open it on my iMac G5. Force quitting and turning off the computer did not help. The spinning wheel just keeps spinning. My wife has a separate user account on the same computer and her mail works fine. My mail account at mac/me.com is fine. Also, mail works OK on my laptop. A previous entry describing a similar problem by Edz says he got his mail to work but did not say how. I can only hope there is a simple solution to restore mail.
I am having exactly the same problem as edz above. Started yesterday, mail just hangs with the SPOD spinning. I have to force quit. I can access my mail via .me - anyone help?
I just started having the same problem with Mail. When checking "MAC or ME" mail, the program will close. I have no problems checking the mail through webmail.
I am having the very same problem. Mac Mail on my iMac G5 keeps hanging. I can't even get a full closure by using Force Quit. It appears on my dock as still being "open/active".
I get the spinning ball and can't do a thing with Mac Mail except to perform a hard shut off by depressing the on/off button until the iMac shuts down completely and then re-starting the machine.
Please ... anyone ... HELP!
Thanks.
