Blue "beach ball"

I am a Facebook user and have recently been getting a blue beach ball when clicking on links in Facebook. This happens when I do things like accept/deny invitations or try to delete messages in my inbox. I can not do whatever task I am attempting to do. I also have noticed that My pages are very slow loading. and often times graphics (not just on Facebook) do not load. My tow questions are:
1. What is the blue ball and what can I do about it?
2. Is this a Mac/Safari issue or could it be related to my wireless connection?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.6), none

Hello Charade:

Welcome to Apple discussions.

The "beach ball" indicates that the system is trying to download information and is "waiting."

Cause - many many things.

The first thing I would do is reset Safari.

Next, I would try an alternate browser (I use Firefox) to see if the problem is Safari-related or system-wide.

No, this isn't the traditional beach ball. I'm having the same problem with Facebook and Facebook only. When I'm having the problem, the mouse arrow changes and includes a blue checkered beach ball that isn't spinning. When I mouse over the tabs or the menu bar, it reverts to the regular pointer, and pages on the other tabs work fine. If I reload the Facebook page, it goes back to normal, but only temporarily. Firefox doesn't seem to have the problem.

Very strange.

I had the same thing happen on my laptop today in facebook......and when I got home it started to do it on my mac mini when I was in my Yahoo email......this better not be a virus!
