Q: Frustrating development with Video iPod (5th Generation)...Can anyone Help?

I have a two-year-old 80 gig Video iPod. I use it mainly for video and have put rental videos on it to either watch when I have time or to "park" them for when I feel like viewing them. The ratio was about 70+ gigs of video and about 5-10 gigs of audio. I was connecting it to the eMac where it is assigned (I never sync it because my teenage son has all his rap music and other stuff) but I manually add and subtract stuff and I have it checked off for "manual" and it also says "firewire" in iTunes. Anyway, last night (what a way to start off the new year) all the video and audio is together in "music" or the main category of "iTunes", the content is marked "audio" (like now it says I have 78 gigs of audio or music even though each video file still says it is a video file (MPEG4). I have tried moving everything into its proper folder or file on the iPod when I connect it and it shows up in iTunes but after I disconnect, there apparently is no change. I would like to move everything off the iPod and do "restore" but there isn't enough room on the hard-drive and some stuff I cannot easily replace. I'm not sure what the culprit is, why it happened or what to do. I tried creating new "TV" , "movie" files but nothing changes. I have heard about "tagging", that is, indicating to your iPod what each item is so it naturaly goes to its proper place, but I have nevr had an issue like this and it's very frustrating. When I try to watch a video (which is now in the music folder) all I get is audio on the iPod but in iTunes I can watch fine, although it's kindof choppy. Hopefully I do not have to tolerate that and watch everything in front of the eMac.

eMac 1 gig, Mac OS X (10.3.x), Video + music in same file and everything is called "Music"
