liquid spilled on trackpad

So, my wonderful wife spilled juice on my trackpad. She tried to clean it up, but some must have seeped into the cracks. Now, the trackpad doesn't really click. The click function mostly works but there is no movement of the pad and it is sometimes difficult to get it to click. The pad feels like it is not moving when I click it, when previously I felt a slight give when clicking. What can I do to fix this? Is there a way for me to clean this area? I really don't want to have to take my macbook to the apple store to have this fixed if it is at all possible for me to repair this.

If I were you I would shut down your computer and do the following steps.

1. Flip your Macbook over and lift the latch to access the HD and Battery.
2. Remove the Battery by the pull tape on the back of the battery.
3. You now can see the bottom of the trackpad, take a paper towel and try to dry up any visible juice.
4. The place the battery back in and cover it with the cover piece and close the latch.

Remember not to press to hard on the trackpad though or jam paper towel in it, you could cause more damage then in the first place.
I am not a genius but I hope that will solve some of the issues. It could have possibly damaged other components of the trackpad so if it doesn't work after that I would call AppleCare (1-800-MY-APPLE).
