Uploading to mobileme Gallery freezes

Hi,

I am trying to upload my iMolvie projet using MobileMe Gallery...
I selecting the Tiny size just to try it ou and speed up the process.

For some reason it gets stuck in the dialog :
Uploading to your MobileMe Gallery
Uploading the tiny movie ...
Time remaining about nnn minutes.

The time remaining keeps increasing as if no communication is being established with mobileme. Eventually it will raise a failure dialog.

I know the upload works to MobileMe from within iPhoto.

Any ideas why it fails in iMovie?

Thanks

MacbookPro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Have you already shared the iMovie project to either iTunes or to the Media Gallery?

If you have not, iMovie will first render your movie, and then transfer to MobileME.
You can reduce the complexity by doing it in two steps: First Share to iTunes in all the sizes you want. Then watch them in iTunes to make sure the results are what you expected. Finally, Share to MobileMe in the sizes you want.

By the way, I don't think you will be happy with the results in Tiny size. Try mobile or medium for a better look in MobileMe. (You can do all three and see for yourself.)

Hi AppleMan,

I have done what you suggested. I can see and preview in iTunes the mobile and medium versions. Then I try to publish using the Share>MobileMe Gallery...

I then select the medium and mobileme format and click Publish.
Then the dialog appears:
Uploading to your MobileMe Gallery
Uploading the mobileme movie ...
Time remaining:

This time no minutes gets displayed and the dialog just stays there.
What may be the cause?

Re-hi Appleman,

This time I waited for the time remaining to show up.
Eventually the folloing dialog came up:
*+Error During Upload+*
*+An error occurred while accessing your MobileMe Gallery. Please verify your account settings and internet connection and try again.+*

I know my internet is fine. I can browse to my mobileme account and browse my IDisk. There must be another reason why it fails.

AppleMan,

It appears the issue is caused by the movie size.
I succeeded posting a 6sec movie tom y gallery.
The one it fails on is a 19min movie and the medium movie size is 550meg.

Do you know of any file size restriction for file sizes on iDisk.
I did also tried to copy the file to iDisk directly but got a -36 error code.

Any thoughts on this?

My thought is that a 19 minute movie at medium might take about 1 to 2 hours to upload (with my internet speed). But it should work.

You have already tried the obvious thing, which is a shorter movie.

Part of the problem is that the upload does not use FTP. Instead it uses WebDav, which is not as robust. If there is in error, or a dropped link, you have to start from scratch, and the odds of this get higher with longer movies.

If I were you, I would go to the Mobile Me web site, log in, and go to the Help section. Find the document that seems closest to your problem, and try the solution. That same page should have a button to contact MobileMe support by a chat session. I figure if I am paying them $99/year, I might as well use their support. If "first level" chat support cannot resolve your issue, they will buck it to a "level 2" support person. You might hear from the Level 2 person by email with additional things to try. They should stay with you until it is resolved.

Another thing to try is to do it very late at night or very early in the morning before the internet gets congested.
