coolpix p80 - view without uploading

Hello,

I have two older C0olpix cameras (2500 and 2100) which can be connected via USB and show up as external drives that can be expored in the finder so I can look at images before downloading to the computer.

My new Coolpix p90 does not show up as an external drive. It seems my only options are to upload via iPhoto or Image Capture and then view and keep or delete.

Is there a way around this? I have not tried installing the Nikon software as it looks like a large app that I'd rather not waste space with, but if it would allow mounting the camara as a drive then perhaps I should.

Any advice is appreciated .

thanks

This is most likely a setting on the Camera rather than anything else. Make sure it supports the Mass Transit protocol for interacting with your Mac.

Other than that the best way is to pop the card into an inexpensive USB Card Reader. Then it will mount on the desktop.

Why use a Card Reader?

Because it’s safer: Less risk of your images being lost if your camera shuts down during transfer.

Because it saves the battery on your camera

Because it saves wear and tear on your camera ports

Because it’s almost always faster.
