Follow these steps to get 2 4x6's per page (it's the only option with iPhoto):

1 - select the photos and hit the Print window.
2 - in the next window select Paper Size= US letter and Print Size=4x6.

This will give you 2 per page. I don't see how you could get 4 4x6's per US Letter. 3 maybe but not four. The dimensions just prohibit it.

If you want to squeeze more photos per page you'll need a 3rd party image editor that uses layers so you can place the cropped photos where you want on the page. Also the demo version of OmniGraffle will let you do it very easily.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Hi, tehsnyderers. Select a group of pictures to print. Choose Print from iPhoto's File menu. Select your printer in the Print dialog box, if more than one is available. Click the "expand" arrow to the right of the printer menu to show additional printing options. Pull down the menu below the Copies and Pages boxes and choose Layout. Pull down the *Pages Per Sheet* menu and choose the number of pictures you want printed on each sheet. iPhoto will print that many pix on each page, sizing them automatically. You can't print three or four 4" x 6" images on 8.5" x 11" paper in Windows or the Mac OS, because the paper isn't big enough.
