Hi Marc,

according to their site:
"Please note: The Zoom H4 will not mount as a USB Drive on MAC OS X 10.5.0 Leopard unless you update to H4 Firmware version 2.10 or higher.
You may download the latest H4 driver and read the installation instructions at Zoom's site here"

You have to make sure before making an upgrade, that you have support drivers!

I'm having the exact same problem, and it seems to have nothing to do with the H4's firmware- that only affects its ability to mount on the desktop as a USB device. Logic's inability to now read the H4 as a recording device seems to have something to do with the latest Leopard update.
PLEASE, someone, I can't record anything anymore!...

Maybe not, if the sig of the other user is right. He's only on 10.5.2..

have you thoroughly checked the Zooms' settings? And have you inspected the Audio Midi Setup utility?

You can still use the built in Audio of your Mac, it has the same resolution (16bit-44.1kHz) and I doubt if you'll hear the difference.

I've got the exact same problem. It's all the more frustrating that when I go in the audio settings of my MacBook, the Zoom H4 input is detected. Same thing with garage band, the H4 input is detected. But not in logic pro.

I confirm this problem appeared after the upgrade to mac OS 10.5.6

I guess i will record in garage band and then export the audio files to logic pro. But that's a huge waste of time. Hope someone will find a way to fix this.

Hi all,
so i posted this thing about the zoom H4 over a week ago and i got in touch with zoom and they sent me this.( if only the B@#$#@#s put this info on their web). i dont know if it works as i have already gone back to OS X 10.5.5 as it was the update 10.5.6 that stuffed everything up. i know this as all works fine on my friends computer running 10.5.5

SWo the golden rule is never ever update untill you get writen word from the interface guys you use. as i have learned, updates are great for your average joe blow but when you start getting into more serious stuff using hardware it can be a different story.

anyway below is what Zoom sent me ...good luck.can some1 tell me where i find the logic pro 8 serial number as im over seas and i dont have the box!!!
Hi Marc,

Today I received the following reply fro Zoom regarding your issue.

Please let me know if this does not help you.

1. Open the "Utilities" folder from "Applications" folder.

2. Click on "Audio MIDI Setup" icon to start "Audio MIDI Setup".

3. Click on "Open Aggregate Device Editor" from "Audio" in menu bar.

4. Click on "+" button to add "Aggregate Device".

5. You can change the name to new one by double-click on "Aggregate Device". Put the new name (ex."H4 Audio IN/OUT") here.

6. Check both "H4 Audio In" and "H4 Audio Out" boxes and click "Done" button.

7. Set the default input and output to a newly created Aggregate Device (ex."H4 Audio IN/OUT") from the "Audio MIDI Setup" window.

8. To use the create Aggregate Device in your DAW software, select the created "H4 Audio IN/OUT" through audio setup menu of the DAW software.
