Apple Bluetooth Keyboard won't pair

Hi. I need help with pairing my Apple Bluetooth (Aluminum) Keyboard. It was working fine up until a month or two ago, and now simply refuses to have anything to do with my iMac G5 (10.5.5), except for showing up in the list of bluetooth keyboards in the bluetooth setup assistant. Any help would be appreciated.

When you go to the Bluetooth Preferences, the paired devices are listed. Click on your keyboard and then on the minus sign at the bottom. That will remove your keyboard from the BT memory. Then click on the BT icon in the menu bar and select "setup Bluetooth device". Then pair your keyboard again and see if it works.

Hope this helps and is detailed enough.

Well, it will appear occasionally, but when i get to the next step, it says connecting to/pairing with the keyboard was unsuccessful. Please make sure your keyboard is in range of your computer, turned on, and discoverable. When ready, click continue to try again. And, If it does choose to connect/pair, which it does occasionally, I can't enter in the passkey. It just doesn't do anything, and eventually times out.

Help! =(

P.S. - Thank you I appreciate what you have done so far for me. I hope I have made my problem more clear.

The keyboard may simply be faulty. Try returning it and get another, if it pairs properly, then it was the keyboard. If your phone and mouse are properly paired, then it is likely the keyboard is not functioning properly.

You have been very clear, and I hope a new keyboard will solve the problem.

Was having the same problem, and the solution was to return to the previous system i had paired with (which hadn't been turned on in weeks), connect the keyboard, then manually remove the pairing in BT preferences.

After that, the keyboard immediately paired with the 10.5.6 machine. Am typing this on the wireless aluminum keyboard in fact!

Hope this helps someone...

Since these are _*user to user*_ message boards, "Apple" cannot "help."

Since your +recently purchased+ keyboard may be defective. Exchange it for another. If the problem crops again then I suggest that you contact Apple. Unsure if a new keyboard comes w/a 90 day warranty.

Or I suggest that you start a New Topic over in the Bluetooth forum area: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9272644#9272644
