Hi gang,

All of a sudden, my 2nd monitor isnt displaying. It was, and now it's not. I've got it hooked to my iMac via the DVI-D port... all was working well earlier today, but just turned on 2nd monitor after booting up and gettin nothin... imac screen goes blue for a moment, then refreshes and the other monitor says "no signal". Cables are hooked up fine.

Any suggestions?

Have similar problem, had second screen mirror, but wanted it extended, attempted to do that with the dual screen adjusting window and instead my iMac ended up frozen with a blue screen, until I disconnected the DVI mini adapter and cable to the other monitor, an HP. With Apple support we made numerous attempts to clear the problem, no luck, so I've copied the Onyx logs of that session to discern relevant patterns. Also looking for an Apple paper on dual monitors

I noticed a "Detect Displays" button but it appears to do nothing. Anyone know what this is for? If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it. Sometimes the monitor works, sometimes not... I don't know why and can't determine any consistent circumstances that would cause it.

Detect Displays in System Preferences/Displays pane will show each monitor connected in order to set prefernces such as resolution. It also is a choice under the display icon at the top right of the desktop. I'm still studying this issue before I do anything such as reset the System Management Controller.
