hi

A few minutes ago I received an email claiming to be iForgot via appleid@apple.com telling me how to reset my password.
Since I haven't used my password for several weeks it certainly does seem suspicious.
Has anyone received anything similar recently?

thx

If you hover over the link they provide in that email, it should show apple.com/…/ as the URL if it indeed came from Apple. But I doubt it was from Apple, so you can just delete it.

Hello---

I also got this e-mail myself a few minutes ago (22:00 CST) and it seemed kind of strange so not only did I change my password, I decided to ask in here. I haven't been on my computer all day so I KNOW it wasn't me. I just discovered this e-mail just before shutting down my system and going to bed. ANy ideas?

What sometimes happens is there is someone with an Apple ID similar to yours. He mistypes his ID, and of course can't login. Not noticing that the error is the mistyped ID, he clicks the "I forgot my password" button. Since he typed your ID instead of his own, the reset-password instructions come to you, not him. This hapless soul is still wondering why he can't login, but there is nothing sinister going on.
