Canon MP480 Printer w/ iogear Bluetooth reciever not printing from MacBook.

Hi everyone. 🙂

I have a new 2008 MacBook (so Bluetooth and everything are built-in) and a new Canon MP480 Printer. The printer can either run off of plugging it in via USB or you can use Bluetooth with it. I did not want to run a 10 ft. USB cable across my room so I went out and bought a iogear USB Bluetooth Reciever and plugged it into my printer. I went through the Bluetooth Set-up and it read that the printer was there so I connected the Computer and printer via Bluetooth. The printer is read and set-up as the default and everything. However, when I try to print anything, it does not print. The computer says the printer is working on it, but nothing ever prints. Any idea as to what the problem could be?

According to the Canon web-site, the Bluetooth Adapter for use with that printer is the Canon **-30:

It's possible that the third-party Bluetooth Adapter you've bought is not compatible with the printer.

Bummer... That's really upsetting... Now I'm gonna be down $70.... Thank you. I suppose this is solved now that I know the problem.

It's certainly possible that this could change, but I do not believe there is any such adapter you can buy to just connect to a printer unless it is a specific part offered by the company, in this case the **-30.

In your case, the bluetooth adapter you purchased is for a computer, not a device. (Most bluetooth adapters made by third party companies are made to connect to computers, but I'm sure there's always something else out there.)

You were ingenius to do what you did and I am surprised that more people do not make that same exact mistake.

I have the same Printer with a New Macbook Pro. I did buy the **-30 from Canon and it will not work via Bluetooth. The printer is recognized, but will only print the nozzle check. When I try to print a Word Doc or anything else, Nothing. Canon says its apple and Apple says its the Canon Driver. Help!
