Flashing lights on ipod shuffle

My daughter thinks I should join the technical generation and bought me an ipod shuffle for Christmas. I'm aged 54 by the way, and colour blind. I've created a playlist and I'm pretty sure I've downloaded about 140 tracks onto the shuffle. I'm also confident it's fully charged. When I try to listen to my selection it the status light blinks a bit then goes out. My wife tells me it;s 4or 5 times green, then once orange and then it switches off. Any ideas for this old codger? Regards and Happy New Year

Are these tracks podcasts or audiobooks?

Some non-music files are configured to be skipped when the Shuffle is set to 'shuffle' mode, and will produce only flashing lights if you press play with only those kinds of files loaded onto the iPod.

Try switching the mode switch on the shuffle to Continuous Play mode [this is indicated by a flattened oval loop symbol, as opposed to the Shuffle mode, which is marked with a sort of flattened stretched-out 'X'.

So I just won an ipod and hooked it up, charged it, and put music on it....But when I turn it on and press the play button the lights blink green, orange, green, orange, green, orange. When I press any of the other buttons other than play it just blinks green one time. I havent been able to listen to any music because the play/pause button does the blinking... I have also tryed restoring it and that worked fine, but after puting my music back on it it still did the same blinking and no playing. Oh man... Help please!!!

its an mpeg-1, layer 3 audio file. I download all my music through Limewire... the bit rate is 156 kbps (VBR) and its encoded with LAME3.93

Hopefully this will help someone help me. I've heard of people uploading their Limewire files to itunes and putting them on their ipod... but mine wont put any music on it. Or it will do one random song out of 100. Thanks!!!
